The Old Square<\/strong>, the traditional name of the current Largo Antero de Quental, was the place of residence of two illustrious poets, namely Antero de Quental<\/strong> and Camilo Castelo Branco<\/strong>. The name Old Square is due to the fact that it is the old political center of Vila do Conde, where the Town Hall was located, as opposed to the New Square (Pra\u00e7a Nova), Pra\u00e7a Vasco da Gama, to which the Town Hall<\/a> was transferred at the beginning of the 16th century. The house of Antero de Quental is currently the seat of the Ateneu de Vila do Conde<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
