Married in Paris in 1910, the artists Sonia Delaunay and Roberto Delaunay were invited to the launch of the Orpheu magazine, by Fernando Pessoa, in 1915. Seeking a refuge from the First War World, they stayed in Portugal and settled in Vila do Conde, living in this house of Avenida Bento de Freitas until 1917. They named this house “La Simultanée”.
